SBB-CFF-FFS Em 3/3

The Em 3/3 is a diesel-electric shunting locomotive of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB ) and the Sihltal Zurich Uetliberg Bahn ( SZU ).

From 1959 to 1963, the SBB procured the light Rangiermaschinen Em 3 /3 System. They replaced the steam locomotives E 3 /3 System. The former Sihltalbahn joined the order with another locomotive, the Em 3/3 11 " Leu " to. Performance default the Em 3/3 belongs to the class of standard electrical shunting Ee 3 /3 System. The prototypes 18801-18806 are equipped with an eight-cylinder V-type diesel engine by SLM Winterthur. In the series locomotives cheaper and lighter six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine SLM came for installation.

With the introduction of the UIC type designations SBB diesel locomotives were renamed Em 830, but was never so written to date on a vehicle.

With the advent of the diesel locomotive SBB Am 843 the Em are / 3 gradually taken out of service 3. The former SZU diesel locomotive Em 3 / 3836506 today belongs to the Club del San Gottardo in Mendrisio. The ex SBB Em 3/3 18822 is located at the club Handcars collection Frick valley in Koblenz.
