SC Albi

The Sporting Club Albi ( Albi short SC ) is a rugby union club based in the French city of Albi in the Tarn department. He plays in the second highest league French Pro D2. The home games are played in the Stadium Municipal.

History

The SC Albi was founded in December 1906 as a general sports club where tennis and athletics were exercised. But soon Rugby had far more importance than the other sports. With the Pyrenees Cup 1926 won the team its first title in the Final Stade Toulousain was beaten.

Others

The most prominent club member was the French President Georges Pompidou. On May 12, 1969 one month before his inauguration, he accepted the offer of the Association to officiate as honorary president. He paid the annual membership fee until his death in 1974.
