Scalenus posterior

The Musculus scalenus posterior ( Latin for "rear fin retainers muscle ", from the Latin scalene " wrong ", " scalene " ), in animals as Musculus scalenus dorsalis ( formerly known as Musculus scalenus supracostalis ), is a skeletal muscle, which of the cervical vertebrae moves to the ribs. In humans, it ends at the second rib, with cloven-hoofed animals at the 2nd to 4th rib, with predators is an additional portion of the 8th and 9th rib. In horses the muscle is not trained.

He is the lowest altitude and scalene muscles in humans the smallest of the three Musculi. The posterior scalene muscle pulls in unilateral contraction of the neck to one side, the muscles on both sides contract, the neck is pulled down. He also highlights the geringgradig to the ribs, and thus acts as Hilfsinspirator.
