The Scales Mound Township is one of 23 townships in Jo Daviess County in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Illinois.

Geography

The Scales Mound Township is located in northwest Illinois on the border with Wisconsin. The border with Iowa, which is formed from the Mississippi River, located approximately 20 km to the west.

The Scales Mound Township is located at 42 ° 28'53 " north latitude and 90 ° 14'54 " west longitude and extending over 48.29 km ².

The Scales Mound Township is bordered Jo Daviess County within the east by the Apple River Township, to the southeast by the Thompson Township, on the south by the Guilford Township and on the west by the Council Hill Township. In the north, Lafayette County is located in Wisconsin.

Traffic

Through the Scales Mound Township run no highways. A number of partly unpaved County Roads run through the Township.

In the census of 2010, the Township had 622 inhabitants. Within the Scales Mound Township there are in addition free community scattered settlement with Scales Mound only a separate municipality ( with a status of "Village" ).
