Scary Go Round

Scary Go Round is a webcomic by the English artist John Allison, which is about the lives of a number of young people in the fictional English town Tackle Ford. At the scene of the comic are typical occurrences and nature of the horror genre, such as parallel universes, time travel, zombies, ghosts, and the devil himself in the center of the story, however, are the interpersonal relationships of the protagonists that are presented in a humorous way and a continuous action form. The comic has existed since 2002, has since been repeatedly reviewed in the press and has received several awards.

History

Scary Go Round was published from June 2002 to September 2009 and is the successor of the webcomics Bobbins, which comes from the same artist. It was first fully computer using Adobe Illustrator, but will now be drawn using pen on paper and colored on the computer and lettered. Since September 2009, again the webcomic Bad Machinery, which takes up some characters from Scary Go Round is displayed.

Reviews and prices

In a review of the webcomic Examiner the unconventional atmosphere of the comics is called " hard to describe " means ( "hard to describe" ) and the dialogues as " hyper- ironically with false naivety" ( "hyper - ironic faux naive" ). The social interaction of the characters is compared to a sitcom, while the supernatural occurrences, although much had, but had never really threatening character. The style have now found some imitators.

The Sunday Times described Scary Go Round as a " post-modern British Horror" ( "postmodern Brit horror" ) and as " marked refined and fast " ( "subtle and stylishly drawn ").

The comic has undergone various honors since its inception. Among other things, it was included among the best webcomics of 2004 Webcomic Examiner and won several Web Cartoonist 's Choice Awards (2003 and 2005).

Others

The title of the comic is a pun on the English word "merry -go-round " (Eng. carousel ), in which the word "merry " ( happy, cheerful ) by " scary" ( creepy, scary ) is replaces.
