Schaeffersheim

Schaeffersheim ( German Schäffer home ) is a commune of 825 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region.

Geography

The town is located east of Erstein. The river touches the Schaeffersheim in the north and east, called La Scheer.

The largest part of the overall 396 acre district is used by agriculture. The proportion of forest in the municipal area covers about 20%.

Neighboring communities of Schaeffersheim are Limersheim in the north, the east Erstein, Bolsenheim the south and west and Meistratzheim in the northwest.

History

Schaeffersheim was first mentioned in 777 in a document of the Abbey of Saint- Denis. The twin town of Schäffer home is Waltersweier in Offenburg.

Schaeffersheim is a member of the Association of Local Authorities Pays d' Erstein. The Town Hall ( Mairie ) is located on the Rue de l' Eglise 1 As mayor officiates Serge Jung.

Attractions

  • Church Saint -Léger from the 18th century
  • Twice overbuilt chapel Saint -Blaise, she goes back to the year 1371 and is the only remnant of the now no longer existing village Battersheim

Economy

Southwest of Schaeffersheim is the 30 -hectare industrial zone ZI Gare Ouest.

Transport links

Between Schaeffersheim and Erstein extend the two-lane road 25 Europe and the railway line Strasbourg -Colmar - Mulhouse, which is operated by the Company TER Alsace. Schaeffersheim has both a connection to the E 25 as well as to the railway line ( Ouest -Gare / Western Railway Station).
