Schafisheim

Schafisheim (Swiss German: Schòòfisse, ʃɔ ː fis ː ə ) is a municipality in the district of Lenzburg in the canton of Aargau. It lies between Lenzburg and the cantonal capital of Aarau.

Geography

The village at the edge of the flat plane of the Aabachs spreads at the eastern foot of the 545 meter high Lotten. This tertiary sandstone forms the northern end of an approximately 30 kilometer ridge which separates the valley from the Wynental. History

Finds of urns from the Hallstatt period are evidence of an early settlement of the area. During the Roman era when this was a manor house. , 1944 during excavations four farm buildings to light, the main building is still undiscovered. Graves point to the later settlement by the Alamanni.
