Scharzfeld is a district of Herzberg am Harz in the district of Osterode am Harz in southern Lower Saxony ( Germany ) with 1,652 inhabitants (1 October 2013). On the southern outskirts of the Oder flows through the nature reserve Oderaue.

History

The first written mention of Scharzfeld is delivered in a document that refers to the year 952 and was probably forged in the 13th century. This Schart field is next to other places of Otto the Great as confirmed possession of the monastery Pöhlde. In the vicinity of Scharzfeld are the medieval deserted villages Königshagen and Smerbeke.

On July 1, 1972 Scharzfeld was incorporated into the city of Herzberg am Harz.

  • From 1863 until his death, the poet and priest Georg Schulze received " the good pastor to Scharzfeld ".
