Schattenhalb

Rosenlaui

Schattenhalb is a municipality in the Interlaken- Oberhasli administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

History

The municipality was created in 1834 Schattenhalb from the Bäuerten "willing ", " Geissholz ", " Falchern " and " peeping" of the landscape Hasli. The name refers to the half- shadow placed on the shadow side of the mountain slope south of Meiringen.

Geography

Schattenhalb located in the Bernese Oberland in the Haslital where the Aare takes behind Innertkirchen Guttannen at its beginning. The neighboring communities of north clockwise are starting Meiringen, Innertkirchen and Grindelwald (11 miles as the crow flies).

The highest mountain is the whelk on the southwestern boundary of the municipality with 3,192 m. ü. M.

Based in part on the municipality is the Rosenlaui. Below this glacier is the Rosenlaui Glacier Gorge, a tourist attraction, which can be reached from the valley through the Reichenbach.

Policy

There is only a mixed community with that name. Our own parish does not exist. Mayor Andreas Frutiger (2009).

Tourism

In Schattenhalb it has an old tradition in tourism. A beautiful climbing and hiking paradise lies at the feet of the community. Since 2007 she is also part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Jungfrau -Aletsch- Bietschhorn.
