Schauren, Cochem-Zell

Schauren is a municipality in the district Cochem-Zell, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Zell an (Mosel).

History

The first written mention dates from 1442. 1475 is a good documented, which was in Waldenhuysen and Schuren and had been sold by Friedrich von Pyrmont to Frederick Zandt of Merl. In the years 1625 to 1699 is reported in documents of a village and a high court in Schauren. Beginning in 1794, Schauren under French rule and was part of the city from 1798 to 1814 in the canton of cell in the Rhine -Moselle department. 1815, the Rhineland, and thus Schauren was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. By the year 1839, places Walhausen and Schauren formed a community.

Since 1946 it has been part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded. By the 8th Administrative Simplification Act of July 18, 1970 with effect from November 7, 1970 the place came to the municipality of Zell.

The local council in Schauren consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
