Schellhorn

Schellhorn is a municipality in the district of Plön, in Schleswig- Holstein. Joy Holm, Scharstorf and Sophienhof lie in the municipality.

The community is home to the office administration Preetz country.

Geography and transport

Schellhorn is located directly southeast of Preetz on Lankans lake. The village is located about 16 km from Kiel and 11 km from Plön away at the old state road 76 (now 53 K ).

Policy

Of the 13 seats in the municipal council voters Community SWG since the municipal election 2008, five seats and the CDU and the SPD have four seats.

Coat of arms

Blazon: "With a silver bar left diagonally divided. At the top of a silver blue, evenly divided into four parts ring below in red an upright silver horn. "

The silver bar represents the formerly leading through the village road salt. The ring symbolizes a Slavic castle in the district Scharstorf whose ring wall is clearly visible even today. The four equal parts stand for the four districts joy Holm, Scharstorf, Schellhorn and Kiel. The horn itself represents the name of the community which designates Middle Low German a small cornucopia.

Attractions

One of the landmarks of the village is the chapel Sophienhof in the district of Kiel. On Scharsee is an ancient fortification to find.

Personalities

The journalist Sabine Christiansen ( b. 1957 ) grew up in Schellhorn.
