Schenkenberg, Brandenburg

Schenkenberg is an official belonging to parish in the extreme north of the district Uckermark in Brandenburg. The village belonged from 1992 until its dissolution in 2001 of the Official Prenzlau country and changed with effect from 1 November 2001 Official Bruessow (Uckermark) with headquarters in the city Bruessow.

Geography

The municipality is located on a moraine, which spreads between the parallel valleys of the Ucker and Randow. It is characterized by many small lakes and ponds, as well as by intensive agriculture and a few forest areas. In the surroundings there are a large number of wind turbines. Schenkenberg is located between the cities Uckermark Bruessow and Prenzlau.

Districts

To Schenkenberg include the districts of Ludwigsburg and Schenkenberg and the local parts Baumgarten, Dauerthal, Kleptow and Wittenhof. The former district Blindow resigned effective November 1, 2001, from the Association of Local Authorities and was incorporated to Prenzlau.

History

In 1256 the place is mentioned as Schenkenberc first documented.

The community Ludwigsburg, which came into being on July 1, 1961 through the merger of the previously independent municipalities Baumgarten and Kleptow, was incorporated on 31 December 2001.

Transport links

Between Schenkenberg and the districts of Ludwigsburg Kleptow and the Baltic Sea motorway A 20 leads through a few miles west runs the federal highway 109 Pasewalk to Prenzlau. By the summer of 1972 Schenkenberg had a break point on the railway line Prenzlau - Klockow. After that, the train operation was shut down.
