Geographical location

The health resort Schenkenzell is in the northwest of the district of Rottweil, in the heart of the Black Forest at the confluence of Little Kinzig and Kinzig in 340-800 meters altitude.

History

In 1244 a Schenk von Celle was first mentioned as a witness in a charter of the counts of Freiburg and was probably part of their ministeriality, although the place is likely to have belonged to the county Sulz. Schenkenzell went in 1250, probably in the inheritance of the Counts of Sulz to the Lords of Geroldseck over, some managers were employed at the castle, some of it was, especially in the 15th century, even inhabited. 1251 Schenkenzell was first mentioned as a place.
