Schiersteiner Kantorei

The Schiersteiner Kantorei is a Wiesbaden concert choir, which is home to the church of St. Christopher Schier stone.

History

The Schiersteiner choir was founded in 1962 by John Krueger, the former cantor at St. Christopher Church in Wiesbaden- Schierstein. Since 1972, the choir is under the direction of Martin Lutz.

Repertoire

The focus of the work of the choir is the work of Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel, whose most important works are performed regularly. Then there are most of the major oratorios and choral and orchestral works, as well as a variety of a cappella pieces from the 16th to the 20th century repertoire.

Bach Vespers Frankfurt -Wiesbaden

Since the summer of 2004, the Schiersteiner Kantorei St. in cooperation with the Frankfurt Kantorei St. Catherine and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main, all 199 sacred cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach performs monthly in lecture recital and evening service.

More Concerts

The Schiersteiner Chantry designed the Wiesbaden Bach Festival and the music fall Wiesbaden prevail. In addition to choir concerts, she also hosts orchestral concerts with the Bach Ensemble Wiesbaden, which is comprised of leading musicians from the great orchestras of the Rhine -Main area and has made particularly as an interpreter of the Viennese Classical and Romantic eras in historically informed playing style a name. Since 1963, she organized the chamber music series Schiersteiner Vespers music offered by the Early Music in Wiesbaden forum.

Awards

The Schiersteiner Kantorei in 1990 awarded the Culture Prize of the city of Wiesbaden.

From the Schiersteiner Kantorei are numerous radio, television and CD recordings. Concert tours have taken her to China, England, France, Portugal and Switzerland.
