Schinderhannes is a spectacle of Zuckmayer about the life of " Schinderhannes " said the robber chief John Buckler. It was premiered on October 13, 1927 at the Berlin Lessing Theater.

Action

Zuckmayers drama based on the life story of John Bücklers while retaining their historical entirely correct but without. The play takes place in the Hunsrück during the French period to the change from the 18th to the 19th century. Despite their grief, Julie can not conceal a certain secret pride that the execution ( " Fifteen thousand Leut !") More spectators arrived, as had recently paid homage in Mainz Napoleon Bonaparte.

Reception

The piece was filmed in 1958 under the title The Schinderhannes with Curd Jürgens as Schinderhannes and Maria Schell as Julie.
