Schindhard

Schindhard is a municipality in the southwest, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Dahn, which has its headquarters in the town of Dahn. Schindhard is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geography

Schindhard is the Dahn Rockland - a part of the Wasgau, which in turn cross-border the southern Palatinate Forest and the Northern Vosges includes - almost 2 kilometers away from the wide valley of the Wieslauter in a narrow ( left ) side valley. Behind Schindhard it bears the name of Bear Valley Brunner. To Schindhard includes the living space Sandbühlerhof.

History

The site was first documented in 1470 as " Schinthartt ".

Religion

2012 were 72.9 percent of the population Catholic and 11.0 percent Protestant. The other belonged to a different religion or no religious affiliation were. Catholics belong to the diocese of Speyer, the Evangelical Lutheran Church for Protestant Palatinate.

The blazon of the arms is: " Under blue shield head, in a silver collar tournament, divided diagonally left of silver and green, top right, a blue lily, bottom left, a silver knives".

It was approved in 1982 by the district government Neustadt.

Schindhard lives mainly from tourism. Many residents also work as a commuter on the premises Pirmasens, Landau or even Karlsruhe.

By Wieslautertal the highway runs 427 of Hinterweidenthal to Bad Bergzabern. Nearest major town is 5 km away from Schindhard Dahn.

Schindhard is through the Wieslauter train ( Hinterweidenthal East Bundenthal - Rumbach ), which runs only in the excursion traffic on Sundays and public holidays, although connected to the rail network, the breakpoint is, however, almost 2 kilometers before the village next to the B 427
