The Schiphol train station is a tunnel station of the Dutch railway company NS at the airport of the Dutch capital Amsterdam and Hoofddorp. He is a hub in the long-distance transport of the Netherlands and connects the airport to the major European cities Paris, Brussels, Antwerp, Osnabrück, Hannover and Berlin.

As a mainline train station in the Netherlands, the station has connections on the European long-distance traffic and stopping point of the high-speed train Thalys and Fyra as well as for the Dutch night train " Nachtnet ". He is also the starting point of the high speed line HSL Zuid ( high-speed line Schiphol- Antwerp).

The train station is below the airport and is connected to the rail network by the Schipholspoortunnel, a nearly six-kilometer long railway tunnel which runs along below the airport. The station was opened on 21 December 1978. At the time of opening he had three tracks on two platforms, but was already extended in the 1990s to four tracks. Between 1992 and 1995 the station after designs by Benthem Crouwel Architects has been extended structurally, in this case the old station building was demolished and in the airport (Schiphol Plaza) integrated. A renewed increase in capacity was completed in 2000, since then the station has six tracks on three platforms.
