Schley County, Georgia

The Schley County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Ellaville, named after the daughter of the man who had provided the land for the city at your disposal.

Geography

The County is located in west-central Georgia, about 70 km from the border with Alabama and has an area of 453 square kilometers, of which one square kilometers of water, and bordered clockwise to the following counties: Taylor County, Macon County, Sumter County and Marion County.

History

Schley County was formed on 22 December 1857 as 122 County in Georgia from portions of Marion County and Sumter County. It was named after William Schley, a governor of Georgia.
