Schliersee (lake)
Schliersee is a lake in the Bavarian Alps.
Geography
Schliersee is located about 50 kilometers south-east of Munich, between Tegernsee and the Inn Valley, close to the Austrian border in the Bavarian Alps. It lies at an altitude of 777 m. ü. Sea level and has an area of 2.22 km ². The lake has an average depth of 23.9 meters and a maximum of 40.5 meters. Its catchment area measures 27.15 km ² in area. In the lake there is the 2.4 -acre, built with a guest house Insel Wörth. From the northwest, the Freudenberg peninsula extending into the lake. The lake is owned by the Free State of Bavaria, for its management, the Bavarian Administration of State-owned Palaces, Gardens and Lakes is responsible.
Geologically speaking, is the northern part of the lake in the flysch zone, the southern in the northern Kalkalpenzug.
The Schliersee completely belongs to the market town of Schliersee; their districts Neuhaus, Fischhausen and Spitzingsee are among the most popular holiday and excursion region of Bavaria.
Ecology
The Schliersee was a long time in ecologically questionable state, since it was completed in spite of a ring drains, the mid-70s of the 20th century, was still eutrophic. The strong growth of Burgundy blood, a type of blue-green algae, the water made it look blood red. Soon it was realized that the wind-protected location and the long ice cover inhibited the natural circulation of the water in the spring.
To change this state, were installed in two basins of the lake in 1982, a linear pressure air line which can be widely circulate the lake in three to four days. This measure is obviously successful, as occurred since neither algal blooms or fish dying appreciable extent.
Sport and Leisure
Every year in June at the Schliersee Alpine triathlon instead. ( Take a 1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run ) This triathlon over the Olympic distance is discharged as German championship since 2008.
In the summer months from May and September twice a day line boat on the lake. In contrast to the other lakes in Upper Bavaria the ship not by the Bavarian Lakes shipping, but from the private Schliersee navigation exists. Daily 11-17 clock will be held 45-minute tours.
