Schlitters

Schlitters is a municipality with 1427 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the Zillertal valley and belongs to the district of Schwaz in Tirol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Zell am Ziller.

Haufendorf Schlitters is on the Murkegel of Öxlbachs in the Zillertal valley. The municipality also includes the hamlet of Schlitterberg, about 400 m above, to reach from Redwood in the Inn Valley.

History

Its name is attributed to a pre-Roman settlement. Schlitters is first mentioned in records of the Archbishop's Church Salzburg as " Slitteres in Cilari Vallee " in the year 931 from the 15th to the 17th century, in the heyday of Schwaz mining, prospecting in the room Schlitterberg miners for silver, copper and mineral colors from malachite and azurite. A landscaped in the 16th century fish pond is a lake today.
