Schloss Ehrenhausen

Ehrenburg Hausen with a well- preserved fortifications on a steep elevation high above the Mur and the place of honor Hausen in the district of Leibnitz in southern Styria. Not far from the castle is on the same hill, the mausoleum of Ruprecht von Eggenberg.

The castle was first mentioned in 1240 as a fief of the monastery of St. Paul in the Lavant Valley. From 1543 to 1755 the castle was owned by the Eggenberger and was developed by them into a Renaissance chateau. During this period (17th century), the mausoleum was built.

The castle is an irregular, three storey four wings around a arcade with a keep dating from the 12th century.
