Schloss Gobelsburg

The Weingut Schloss Gobelsburg in Gobelsburg, a cadastral district of Retz, is an Austrian winery wine region Kamp in Lower Austria.

History

The winery is located since 1740 in the possession of the Cistercian Monastery Zwettl. Starting in 1958, the later abbot, Father Bertrand Baumann led the winery and made the " Gobelsburger sacramental wine " to a known brand. Since 1996, the winery is by Michael Moosbrugger (* 1966) performed. This qualitative and structural renovation was supported by Willi Bründlmayer.

Wine

The vineyard area totals 39 hectares that are planted to 75 % with the white varieties Grüner Veltliner and Riesling and 25% with the red varieties St. Laurent, Zweigelt, Merlot and Pinot Noir. The most famous Rieslings come from the layers Holy Stone and Gaisberg, the best Veltliner from the vineyards lamb, Kammerner Renner and Grub. These layers are all managed according to bio- integrated principles. A special feature is the tradition. Under this wine every year Veltliner and Riesling are developed separately ever. Here, Michael Moosbrugger tries to interpret the philosophy and practical approach of the pre-industrial winemaking with the viticultural means of the present. The traditional wines are pressed as on a traditional wooden press, very gently, and then fermented without degumming spontaneously in large barrels of Manhartsberger oak and matured. You get one year later in the sale, which should give them more complexity the longer ripening period. The estate is a member of Traditionsweingüter Austria and has received numerous national and international awards.
