The Narrow Gera is a tributary of the river Gera, which flows through the Thuringian capital of Erfurt and the southern district Sömmerda. It branches in Erfurt's historic Venice in the park on the right side at the junction of broad current in the Gera (former confluence of wide current and Wilder Gera ) from and flows northward. Shortly thereafter, the narrow Gera crosses under a culvert in the flood ditch.

The water passes through the Johannesviertel in Erfurt's old town, the mill district Andreasvorstadt, Ilversgehofen and Rieth and then flows between Gispersleben and Red Mountain passes by means Hausen. Outside the urban area the villages Nöda, Riethnordhausen and Haßleben be traversed before the narrow Gera, after little more than 21 kilometers opens directly south of Werningshausen, where she still drives the Cux - mill in the frames.
