Schmalenhofer Bach

Headwaters of the Narrow Hofer Bach

The Narrow Hofer Bach is a left tributary of the Blombachs, which in turn flows into the Wupper. The creek is part of the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Wuppertal.

Location and topography

The Narrow Hofer brook rises to 302 meters above sea level. NN near Lichtscheid in the western part of the former Wuppertal site training area east of Scharpenacken Engineering Park Wuppertal (on the site of the former barracks Colmar ). It flows away from residential housing in an easterly direction through a deep V-shaped valley pronounced through the grounds of the Scharpenacken and takes the inflows Hadberger Siefen, Gleichener Siefen and Scharpenacker Siefen on. After passing under the railway line Wuppertal -Solingen - Oberbarmen the creek empties after about two kilometers to 209 meters above sea level. NN in the Blombach.

Etymology

The name of the Bach is derived from the Schmalenhof, a Hofschaft at its headwaters, which was abandoned on the grounds of the local training course in 1936. More residential squares and courtyards at the creek were Schirpkotten and ( Schirpkotter ) dent.
