Schmiebach

Course of the lubrication

The lubrication or Schmiebach ( TVC: 238456 ) is a 12 km long left tributary of the river Enz in the eastern Enz. It rises southwest of the village blacksmith and flows west of Vaihingen Enz in the catchment area is 47.4 km ².

Name

The name " lubrication " is derived from the Celtic. For the first time the term " smegowe " ( Schmiegau ) 788 mentioned in writing. The village blacksmith was named contrary to popular opinion, according to the creek. Today, the term " Schmiebach " colloquially customary to distinguish with the place. In official writings, however, the term " lubrication " is used.

Course

The lubrication rises to 275 meters above sea level near the same place. The overflow can be almost completely dry to dry periods. The Schmiebach flows in a southeasterly direction. With few exceptions, the river is almost always surrounded by trees. In its range of Schmiebach flows through the towns of Lienzingen ( about 1.5 km ) and Illingen ( around 7 km). His course follow the B 35 and B 10 at an altitude of 202 m leads the lubrication in the Enz

Inflows

The blacksmith has a total of five left and four right tributaries. The Glattbach is the longest tributary about 8 km in length.
