Schneckenhausen

Schneckenhausen is a municipality in the district of Kaiserslautern, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Otter mountain.

Geographical location

Schneckenhausen is located 11 km north of Kaiserslautern which opens at the source of Odenbach approximately 22 km run in the same place Odenbach in the Glan.

To Schneckenhausen includes the living space Sonnenhof.

The local council in Schneckenhausen consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The blazon of the arms is: " divided from black and silver, the top five silver Bollen 2:1:2, down a red snail with shell ".

It was established in 1960 approved by the Mainz Ministry of Interior. The Bollen remember the former local lords, the lords of SICKINGEN, and the worm verweiset talking on the place name.

Traffic

The public transport system is integrated into the transport association Rhein- Neckar. The lines 6506 and 6509 the regional bus Saar- West Pfalz GmbH connect the place with Kaiserslautern. The nearest train station is Katzweiler at the Lauter Valley Railway (Kaiserslautern - Lauterecken - Grumbach ), about seven kilometers southwest of Schneckenhausen located.
