Geography

Location

Schneizlreuth belongs to the district of Upper Bavaria in Bavaria. The municipality is part of the Alpine region in the southern district of Berchtesgaden and surrounded by mountains of the Chiemgau and Berchtesgaden Alps.

Through the local area flows the White creek that narrows between the hamlets of Weissbach and Schneizlreuth parallel to the main road B305 to Weissbach gorge. The gorge is a popular hiking destination.

Neighboring communities

The neighboring municipalities within the district of Traunstein in the north are Ruhpolding and Inzell, the westernmost of Schneizlreuth toads within the county of Berchtesgaden in the east Bavarian Gmain and Bad Reichenhall, southeast Bishop meadows and in the south of Ramsau near Berchtesgaden and the Austrian province of Salzburg.

Community structure

The municipality is divided into seven districts. These are the three former municipalities Jettenberg, Ristfeucht and Weissbach on the Alpine Road, as well as four former uninhabited unincorporated territories or parts thereof which were incorporated at different times:

  • Jette Forst ( on 1 January 1984 divided between Schneizlreuth and Ramsau )

The eleven officially designated parts of municipalities distributed among the three inhabited districts.

History

1285 for the first time a country estate was called Schnaezenreut. The first mention of Weissbach was on 1 August 1349. Both towns have always been part of Bavaria and thus limits historically, socially and culturally within the county Berchtesgaden Berchtesgaden from the cultural landscape of the country in the historic boundaries of the prince propst present core country and the once for Archbishopric Salzburg belonging from Rupertiwinkel.

The community Schneizlreuth was July 1, 1909 from the Association of Municipalities Jettenberg ( with the districts Oberjettenberg and sub ​​Jettenberg ) and Ristfeucht (including with Schneizlreuth, then a hamlet ). On 5 May 1945 took place probably last battles of World War II in Bavaria in Schneizlreuth.

On January 1, 1984, the larger northern part of the unincorporated area was incorporated Jette Forst with an area ratio of 2279.77 hectares. The smaller southern part with 683.49 hectares went to the neighboring village of Ramsau. On 1 January 2011, a part of the east lying Forest St. Zeno ( 966.50 hectares) was incorporated. The rest of the area with 290.10 acres was annexed to Bad Reichenhall. These two uninhabited, formerly unincorporated area shares previously existed under their respective common names continue as districts within the municipality Schneizlreuth.

Incorporations

The community was founded in 1883 Weissbach on the Alpine Road was incorporated on May 1, 1978 at the course of municipal reform to Schneizlreuth. The choice of heraldic symbols that were included in part already in the municipal coat of arms of the former municipalities Schneizlreuth and Weissbach a d Alpine Road, is to emphasize their merger in 1978. The golden wheel stands for the " Gilded Salt Road " from Reichenhall to Traunstein, on whose route the church was and owed ​​its development. Economy

In dolomite Jettenberg Ramsau is mined and processed for industrial purposes, especially for dolomite flour and grain sizes.

Traffic

Schneizlreuth is by the German Alpine Road opened (eg B 305) of Inzell in the northwest and Ramsau in the southeast. The B 21 connects the municipality with Bad Reichenhall in the north and lying toads or in Austria Lofer in the south. This stretch of road is described by the Austrian side as " Kleines Deutsches Eck". The tiny hamlet of Melleck is below the stone pass, on the a side road leads to toads.

The nearest train stations are in Traunstein and in Bad Reichenhall.

State institutions

In the district Oberjettenberg to 52 is the Bundeswehr Technical Center of the Federal Armed Forces, together with the cable car Reiteralpe.

Personalities

  • Bally Prell (1922-1982), folk singer, went and the place in 1953 with their song about the " beauty queen of Schneizlreuth " known throughout Germany.
