The Schoepfiaceae are a plant family in the order of sandalwood ( Santalales ).

Description

These are woody plants. There are root parasites, more green semi- parasites ( hemiparasite ). The change-constant leaves are simple and pinnately. Stipules absent.

The directly bracts seated flowers are summarized in differently constructed inflorescences. The hermaphrodite, radial symmetry flowers are four to sechszählig. The petals are fused. The discus is fleshy. There is only one stamen circle present. The carpels are fused into one under permanent to semi- inferior ovary. Are formed drupes.

System

The genus Schoepfia formerly belonged to the family of Olacaceae Juss., Arjona and Quinchamalium to Santalaceae R.Br. Most closely related to the family of Schoepfiaceae flower are the families Misodendraceae J.Agardh and Loranthaceae Juss. A synonym to Schoepfiaceae flower is Arjonaceae van Tieghem.

To the family of Schoepfiaceae include three genera with about 55 species:

  • Arjona Cav. Using ten species from tropical to temperate climates in South America.
  • Quinchamalium Molina: With 15 to 25 species in the Andes in South America.
  • Schoepfia Schreb. With about 25 species in tropical America, Africa and Asia.
