Schoonschip

Schoon chip was one of the first computer algebra systems in computer history.

History

The math program was developed in 1963 by Martinus JG Veltman. Schoon chip translates from Dutch " clean ship". The software was written for use in physics. Specifically, it was about calculations of Feynman diagrams in elementary particle physics. Veltman wrote the program during his stay at SLAC.

In 1964, Carl Engelman developed by the Mitre Corporation another math program called Matlab.
