Geography

Geographical Location

Schorndorf is located in the region of Regensburg in the Bavarian Forest and borders in Thierlstein south to the stake. Watercourses in the municipality are the Knöblinger and Pentinger Bach.

Neighboring communities

The Schorndorf, bordered to the north the city Cham, on the east by the municipality Traitsching and to the west by the city Roding. In the south, the municipality Michelsneukirchen is.

History

In the Neolithic Age dated archaeological finds of cereal grain imprints in 1935 Knöbling provide the earliest evidence for cereal cultivation in the Bavarian Forest. Today's municipality includes the former communes Schorndorf, Neuhaus, Thierling, Upper Untertraubenbach and parts of penting that have been joined together in the course of municipal reform in Bavaria in 1972, the new community Schorndorf. The provost Nanzing (formerly Upper community Untertraubenbach ) of the Reich pin Obermünster had rich land in the municipal area. Schorndorf with its detectable since the 15th century parish church belonged to Rentamt Straubing and Cham district court of the Electorate of Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the precursor of today's communities community.

Incorporations

Part of the former municipality in 1946 Hötzing incorporated. The other part of municipality was then reclassified to Upper Untertraubenbach, which was incorporated along with Neuhaus and Thierling and a part of penting on 1 January 1972.

Population Development

Schorndorf is very popular with families as a place of residence. Finally, a new settlement was built in 2008.

Coat of arms

Blazon: Azure, under a silberbordierten blue sign in a golden oblique beams, diagonally crossed a silver natural lily and a silver spike, beseitet of two mutually remote golden crescents right and left, down an upright golden crescent. The emblem has been used since 1983.

Economy, agriculture and forestry

It was in 1998 according to official statistics in manufacturing and 150 in trade and transport, no social insurance contributions at the workplace.
