Kreuz and Schöttelkarspitze (from left)

The Schöttelkarspitze is a 2050 m high mountain in the Bavarian Soierngruppe the Karwendel. At its peak, King Ludwig II of Bavaria built a pavilion, to which he gave the name Belvedere to take in this place his tea. The pavilion burnt down in the early 20th century.

Even today, the construction activity on behalf of Ludwig II of Bavaria is evident from the fact that the path from Soiernhaus up to the summit of Schöttelkarspitze for such a distance is unusually wide expanded in exactly a width which for the royal litter, and their support was needed.

The summit is accessible from Krün or Wallgau either via the Soiernhaus to the Soiernseen than not a difficult hike or over the head being (1961 m) and the Kreuz ( requires in some places slip resistance ). The Ridge to Soiernspitze also requires the sure-footed hikers; The official trail is not difficult, however, and often runs a little below the ridge.
