The Schwab Transport AG is a Swiss rail vehicle suppliers based in Schaffhausen. The company specializes in the development, manufacture and sale of couplings, railway buffers, traction devices and spring elements for rail vehicles.

Company History

The company was founded in December 1912 as a specialized agency in the field of traffic engineering by George Fischer ( GF ). Already in 1914 the first clutches were developed.

In 1965, the semi-automatic GF coupling was developed and marketed. 1973 buffer and traction devices have been introduced into the range. The Schwab Holding took over in 1998 specializing in clutches the " rail traffic engineering " by GF . At the time of the acquisition, the company employed 19 people and generated sales of CHF 12 million

1999, a gas-hydraulic spring was developed specifically for buffers and couplings. Due to the growing request for a clutch system that allows the disconnection process even under tension, 2000, the fully automatic Schwab coupling of the type FK was developed. In 2005, the Scharfenberg coupler type 10 compatible has been developed.

The company employed the end of 2013, 47 employees, including 9 in the development and design department. From 2009 to May 2013, the company was majority owned by the Cross Equity Partners AG and privately owned.

On May 17, 2013, the majority stake of the Faiveley Transport SA was bought and organizationally affiliated with the category " Safety & Brakes ".

The sale is divided into direct sales of Schaffhausen and sales agents in Finland, Belgium, Sweden, Italy and Turkey
