Geography

Schwanstetten is about 16 km south of the city of Nuremberg.

Neighboring communities

To the north and east borders Schwanstetten at Wendelstein, to the south by Roth and to the west by Rednitzhembach. Between Rednitzhembach and Schwanstetten is the unincorporated Soos.

History

Was first mentioned historically in today's Schwand area in 1186, the district Leerstetten in 1194th

On 1 May 1978, the market Schwanstetten was re-formed by the merger of the formerly independent market Schwandstrasse at Nuremberg with the community Leerstetten. The name of the new community is made up of parts of the former place names Schwandstrasse and Leerstetten, one in Bavaria almost unique creation. The term market and thus the market rights were taken off the market Schwandstrasse.

Mayor

In the local elections in 2008 Robert Pfann (SPD ) in a runoff with 54% ( 2087 votes) was elected as the new mayor. Its predecessor was Dietmar Koltzenburg (CSU ).

The swan was taken from a court seal of Schwandstrasse built in 1468. Actually, the name suggests that Schwandstrasse is a settlement that was built on the site of a fire clearance. They brought the forest to Schwenden, so to disappear. On the rule of zollerischen viscount of Nuremberg and later Marquis recalls the split of black and silver shield main. The viscount are from 1267 in the municipality detectable. For the name portion of the Amstetten -section is crenellated.

Traffic

The B 2 strips the municipal area in the far west. About two county roads, the community is connected to the at this point highway-like -developed highway.

Several bus lines bind Schwanstetten on to the surrounding countryside and the suburban railway stations in Schwabach and Roth. These is a line of bus and coach transport to Nuremberg Franconia Metro Station Franconia Road. The bus service to Allersberg ( Rothsee ) station was discontinued in December 2010.

The Main -Danube Canal runs from northwest to south through western municipality. Named after the swan Stettener district lock Leerstetten located on the unincorporated Soos.
