Schwarzberg Glacier

The Black Mountain Glacier is a glacier mountain in the canton of Valais and situated in the Pennine Alps in the back of the Saas Valley east Mattmark. In September 2010, the length was determined to be 3.66 km. The measurement of the area in 2004 was 5.33 km ². The exposure of the glacier is northeast.

The origins of the Black Mountain glacier on the north side of Roffelhörner (up to 3517 m above sea level. M. ) and the Steinkalkhorns ( 3333 m above sea level. In his High Stadium during the Little Ice Age in the mid- 19th century, the Black Mountain glaciers reached as far down into the valley at today Mattmarksee.
