The Black Kettle shortly after its origin

The Black Kettle is the left, longer source river of the digester. It rises in Oberkochen from the digester origin. In Unterkochen he unites with the White cooker for cooker.

Name

Historical maps, namely the Walchsche map from 1804 and the Majersche card from the 1705 show, however, that over time the name of the source rivers of the digester were reversed. Course

The Black Kettle flows through the city Oberkochen, where it flows to the third smallest source stream of the digester, the Red Kettle from the oil pond. Furthermore, it is fed by Katzenbach. This originates in the meadow land from a typical boundary layer source. The Katzenbach flows, partially cased, after a short run as a " customs Bach" at the railway bridge in the Black Kettle.

History

Near the stove origin was from 1559 to 1634, a wood-fired coal iron melt. The wood came from the forests of Ostalb. A waterwheel powered Gebläsebalge and hammers. In 1830, the company was set. Glassy slag residues from the production can be found today in and next to the river.
