Schweix

Schweix is a municipality in the southwest, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Pirmasens country.

Geography

Schweix lies directly on the border with France. To the north is Kröppen, east and west is Hilst Liederschiedt. The nearest major town is in the northeast of Pirmasens.

To Schweix includes the residential places Hilstermühle and Schweixermühle.

History

The place belonged to the rule Lviv, which in 1570 was up to the extinction of the line belonged to the counts of Zweibrücken- Bitsch, then came to the Counts of Hanau -Lichtenberg and 1736 to the Landgrave of Hesse -Darmstadt.

Associated with Schweix people

  • Edith Stein (1891-1942), philosopher and nun, canonized in 1998. She attended 1927-1931 multiply the Schweixer pastor Konrad Schwind and his sisters and housekeepers Anna and Lisette. 1928 Edith Stein spent in the rectory a few weeks holiday.
