Schweizerhaus

The Swiss House ( Karl Kolariks Swiss GmbH ) is a traditional Viennese restaurant, which is inextricably linked to the Prater.

History

The name Swiss house is derived from a 1868 opened the Prater Swiss dairy. However, it should have already existed in 1766 as a Swiss hut in time not yet public Prater and have been renamed in 1814 to the Russian emperor. Also, the word may be due in part Swiss compound Swiss house on the receding of the exposed location and original use of typical construction in wood or the Swiss style. 1906/ 07 was Julius Maly, owner of the Hotel Germania (Sweden Platz 4, Vienna - Innere Stadt), operator of the chalet. 1907-1920 the restaurant by Johann Gabriel was performed, after which she took Karl Kolarik and turned it into a family business.

Fire in the Swiss House

In the night from 10 to 11 June 2005 at the Swiss house a fire had broken out. According to investigations by the police it was arson by an unknown perpetrator. The motive remained unclear, as no threats or other notes were left. An insurance fraud was not considered because the Swiss House economically runs extremely well.

Beer Garden

The restaurant has a large-scale beer garden, which is divided into smaller areas, which are named after the districts of Vienna. An exception is the area at the pub itself represents, the name of Franz Josef station is borrowed from the same station Vienna, and named after famous Viennese districts autonomous areas Oberlaa Kaisermuehlen.
