Schwenningen is located at 870 m altitude in the Upper Danube Nature Park on the Heuberg, the southwestern plateau of the Swabian Alb.

The highest point of the district of Sigmaringen is the Schnaitkapf with 921 meters above sea level and is situated in the west of Schwenningen.
