An original church in Schwobsheim 953 was mentioned in a document. The present parish church of Saint -Jacques -le- Majeur was built in 1843 by architect Antoine Ringeisen. In the church is an organ that was in 1769 by Jaque Besançon ( 1735-1811 ) (or of Louis Dubois ) was built. Since 1989, the organ is classified as a monument historique (historic monument). In 1995 the organ was restored, while an invoice from 1766 was found, which had been issued by Louis Dubois ( 1726-1766 ), who, like Besançon was a famous organ builder. The organ was sold until 1845 after Schwobsheim.
