Schwyz Train Station of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB ) is located in Seewen (Canton of Schwyz ), which politically belongs to the municipality of Schwyz.

History

The station was opened in 1882, when the Gotthard railway began operations from Immensee to Chiasso. With the GB- nationalization in 1909 the station came into possession of the SBB. 1900, the station was connected with the construction of the line -Schwyz Schwyz Train post to the network of Schwyzerstrasse tracks, which was in 1914 extended to the station well and the Brunner boat station.

1979 and 1980, the entire station was redeveloped, canceled the reception building and replaced by the now existing, post-modern building. The system platform has been renewed. The track facilities were expanded.

Plant

The railway facilities include four through tracks, three of which lie on a railway platform. However, scheduled routes only lying on the central platform tracks 2 ( direction well) and 3 are used ( direction stones / Arth -Goldau ) for passenger traffic, the track lying on the main platform 1 and the Platform loose track 4 are used for Überholfahrten. Location

The Schwyz SBB railway station is located in the Schwyz basin in the district Seewen between the myths and the Urmiberg. It is located on the north -south axis between Zurich and Ticino. The center of Schwyz is located only two miles away.
