Sciara, Sicily

Sciara is a city in the province of Palermo in the Italian region Sicily, with 2806 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Location and data

Sciara is located 60 km southeast of Palermo. The inhabitants mainly work in agriculture. It produces olives and artichokes.

The neighboring municipalities are Aliminusa, Caccamo, Cerda and Termini Imerese.

History

The present village was founded in 1671.

Attractions

At a cliff stands the castle of Notobartolo Prince of Sciara. The place is designed like a chess board, the center is the insula.
