Scordia

Scordia is a city in the Province of Catania in the Italian region Sicily, with 17,153 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012).

Location and data

Scordia located 44 km southwest of Catania. The inhabitants mainly work in agriculture and processing of citrus fruits.

The neighboring municipalities are Lentini (SR) and Militello in Val di Catania.

History

Here since ancient times people have settled. The present town was founded in 1628. In the earthquake of 1693 a part of the town was destroyed.
