Scotch bonnet (pepper)

Scotch Bonnet is a Caribbean breed form the chili species Capsicum chinense. The name to German Tam, alludes to the shape of the fruits.

Plant

The plant grows as a bushy shrub and is 120 cm tall. In principle, they may also be drawn in Central Europe. However, it requires connection to a corresponding warm and sunny parking space.

Fruits

Unlike most chilis the fruits are wider than long and distinctly furrowed. The initially green fruits turn ripens from yellow to orange-red.

The fruits are next to Habaneros and the Indian Bhut Jolokia the hottest chilli in the world and achieve on the Scoville scale sharpness of 150,000-300,000 units.
