Scott Hannan

Kenneth Scott Hannan ( born January 23, 1979 in Richmond, British Columbia) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player on the position of the defender standing since April 2013 in the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League contract.

Career

Hannan began his career as a junior player in the British Columbia Amateur Hockey Association in Surrey Flyers before he graduated in the 1994/95 season his first two games in the Western Hockey League, one of the three major junior leagues in Canada, at the Tacoma Rockets. After the season, the team moved to Kelowna and called himself Kelowna Rockets. There Hannan played his first full season, the lean precipitated by the yield points. In the 1996/97 season he shined with good results as a point forming defender and was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1997 by the San Jose Sharks in the first round at position 23.

In the 1997/98 season Hannan played less often, but scored ten goals in 47 games and 30 goals before prepared. At the beginning of the 1998/99 season Hannan could complete five games in the National Hockey League and scored two assists. He also played twice for the farm team of the Sharks, the Kentucky Thoroughblades in the American Hockey League. He was then sent back to the WHL, where he spent the rest of the season and his personal record to 45 points improved. In addition, he was elected to the West First All-Star Team of the WHL. In the 1999/2000 season he finally got on to the pros and their inserts were divided about equally between the San Jose Sharks and the farm team in Kentucky. He managed his first goal in the NHL. From the following season he was a regular member of the NHL squad. While he presented himself as a good scorer in the WHL, Hannan is developed in the NHL to a defensive specialist. In the following years he always reached a value of 20 points. In the season 2003/ 04, the San Jose Sharks started from second place in the Western Conference in the playoffs and came to the Conference Finals, where they failed to the Calgary Flames. This meant the largest up to that time success in the history of the California team.

2006/ 07 Hannan developed until the end of the season as one of the leading players in the team of the Northern Californians. Behind team captain Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton, he was beside Alternatively captain of the San Jose Sharks. After the season, he left the Sharks as a free agent and signed a three-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche. After he had signed a contract with the Nashville Predators in August 2012, followed on April 3, 2013, the return to the San Jose Sharks, for which the Predators received a performance- contingent option.

Internationally

Hannan ran for his home country of Canada at the World Cup of Hockey in 2004 and won with the team the gold medal. He also won the silver medal at the World Championships in 2005.
