Scott Robinson (jazz musician)

Scott Robinson (born 27 April 1959 in New Jersey) is an American jazz saxophonist.

Robinson began as a student saxophone and received during his high school years the Louis Armstrong Award and the Best Soloist Award from the National Association of Jazz Educators. In 1981 he completed his studies at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and became the youngest faculty member in the history of this school.

After teaching here until 1984, he went to New York, where he worked with musicians such as Buck Clayton, Lionel Hampton and Paquito D Rivera. He also realized projects with the New York City Opera and worked on film scores with. He received four times a scholarship from the National Endowment for the Arts.

In 2001, he toured as a jazz ambassador for the U.S. State Department, West Africa. Robinson experimented with rare saxophones such as the contrabass saxophone and the C- melody saxophone. He runs a recording studio and laboratory in Teaneck / New Jersey. In 2011 he worked at Ryan True Dells Centennial - with Newly Discovered Works of Gil Evans.
