Scott Squires

Scott Squires ( born 1956 ) is a VFX supervisor, who was nominated three times for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.

Life

He grew up in a small town in Indiana, where he has worked as a newspaper photographer and film projectionist during high school. After graduation he moved to Los Angeles to Douglas Trumbull's assistant Close Encounters of the Third Kind to work than in the movie.

In 1982 he was co-founder of the special effects company Dream Quest Images, which was later bought by the Walt Disney Company. After six years, he joined Industrial Light & Magic where he worked twenty years as a VFX supervisor and commercial director. During this time he was nominated three times for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, 1995, The Mask, Dragonheart 1997 and 2000 for Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. He currently works as a freelance VFX Supervisor in Los Angeles and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
