Scottish Football League Third Division
The Scottish League Two is the fourth highest football league in Scotland and the third stage of the Scottish Football League. Play ten teams in the league. By the end of the season 2012/2013 the name of the League Scottish Football League Second Division was.
The teams will play against each other four times each. A win there are three points for a draw one point. In case of equal decides on the table space, the goal difference and then the number of goals scored.
Since 2005 /06 the proposed system is that only the first table automatically rises. The teams ranked two to four play with the second-bottom of the Scottish League One play-offs in the ascension and relegation. The Last of the Scottish League One table rises directly from the Scottish League Two.
Since the Scottish professional league system in the Third Division ends, there is no descent.
History
Already from 1923 to 1926 had the Scottish League Division Three with a consistently 16 clubs, mostly from the south of the country. The champion and runner- up to the 2nd Division; Masters were Arthurlie FC ( from Barrhead 1923 /24) and the Nithsdale Wanderers ( from Sanquhar, in 1924/25 ). Economically these third league but the third season 1925/26, was not permanently viable, was not completed ( leader was at the time of the crash Helensburgh FC ) are dissolved and the league.
In the years after the Second World War, there was again a 3rd Liga, this time called "C" Division. In addition to their first teams played some reserve teams höherklassiger clubs, but did not rise right. Finally, the C- Division was divided into two regional groups, but in the mid -1950s, it also ended this attempt.
On 13 July 2012, the Scottish Football League decided that the Glasgow Rangers participate from the 2012/13 season on game operation of the Third Division. This decision was confirmed on 27 July 2012 by the Scottish Football Association. After only one year in the fourth division, the Rangers went on.
