Scouts of Greece

Soma Hellinon Proskopon ( Σώμα Ελληνων Προσκόπων, ΣΕΠ; Association of Greek Scouts ) is the National Scout Association of Greece. The Scouting began in Greece 1910., The association was a founding member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1922 and 2010 had 17,658 members. The majority of the members belong to the Greek Orthodox Church. However, boys and girls of all religious and ethnic groups, provided that they are established in Greece to join the association.

During the Olympic Games in London in 1908, the young sports teacher Athanasios Lefkaditis watched with interest the use of the British Boy Scouts. He met with Robert Baden -Powell and introduced in 1910, the Boy Scouts movement in Greece. The Boy Scouts of Greece were and are always active in social assistance and relief operations during natural disasters such as major fires, and earthquakes.
