Screaming for Vengeance (English for " cries for revenge " ) is the eighth studio album by the British heavy metal band Judas Priest. The album was released on 17 July 1982 with Columbia Records.

Background

For Screaming for Vengeance, the band with Tom Allom was looking again at the Ibiza Sound Studios on the Spanish island of Ibiza. Mixed, the plate was in the Beejay Recording Studios and Bayshore Recording Studios in Coconut Grove, Miami, Florida. A remastered CD was released in 2001. In October 2012 published on the occasion of the thirty -year anniversary of the album an anniversary edition, in addition to the on the first version of the CD already existing pieces and the bonus tracks included on the 2001 version Prisoner of Your Eyes and Devil's Child in a live version still contained four more live recorded pieces. In addition, the CD was a DVD with a full concert that the band had in 1983 given at the second U.S. Festival.

On the back of the album cover reads: From an unknown country and through distant skies came a winged warrior. Nothing Remained sacred, what no one safe from the Hellion as it uttered its battle cry ... Screaming for Vengeance. The Hellion the metallic bird is meant on the album cover.

Reception

Steve Huey of Allmusic wrote the album is the strongest of the commercially successful phase at the beginning of the 1980s. He forgave 4 of 5 stars.

The album reached # 17 on the Billboard 200 as 1983 it was platinum, awarded after the re- release in 2001 with a double platinum.
