Scripps Research Institute

The Scripps Research Institute is a medical research institute with a focus on biomedicine.

The Institute, headquartered in La Jolla, California, is home to about 3,000 scientists, technicians, graduate students and administrative staff, making it one of the largest private, non -profit biomedical research organizations in the world. It has departments of cell biology, chemistry, immunology, molecular biology, experimental medicine, neurobiology and neuroscience. President since 2012 Michael A. Marletta, his predecessor since 1987 Richard A. Lerner.

It offers graduate colleague of biology, biophysics, biochemistry and chemistry at the Kellogg School of Science and Technology.

The Institute is often associated with the University of California, San Diego, affiliated Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Both institutions are indeed close to each other, but are independent of each other.

The Institute was the initiator of the Predictor @ home project in the area of distributed computing.
